Alfalfa hay for sulcata??

Okay, so I boughta package of alfalfa hay because I know that people feed it to sulcatas. On the back of the package, however, it says that it is protein rich. It doesn't have any added things, no added ANYTHING. So, is it true that alfalfa is high in protein?? Also, how often can I feed my sulcata (3 inches/hatchling) cactus pads??
