My 6 mo old kitten won't stop licking my face in the AM?

My Patrick tends towards "morning affection" - cute but annoying! I keep a little bottle of orange oil or rosemary oil near the bed, and when he gets too annoying, I just hold up the bottle so he can smell it - he hates the smell, and runs away. Gradually he has stopped that behaviour and settled down.
